Due to the COVID-19 pandamic at present some of the following ways to order your prescriptions have changed.
- You can now ring the Surgery/Pharmacist to order your prescriptions
- All patients will be required to nominate a Pharmacy of their choice and the prescriptions will be sent electronically to that Pharmacy.
- You will no longer be able to collect your prescriptions directly from the surgery.
• by posting your request to the surgery;
• via Patient Access on our website; or
• ordering your repeat request through a chemist of your choice.
Ordering Via a Chemist
There are a number of chemists who offer the service of repeat medication ordering and home delivery service.

If you request to use a specific pharmacy to order your repeat medication then all your medication will be sent to this chemist. If at any point you do not want your medication sending to your regular chemist can you please inform the surgery.
Please allow an additional 24 hours for repeat medication ordering via the chemist as the prescription cannot be guaranteed to arrive the same day you put the request into your pharmacy.
Please note that, if your request is received after 5pm, the repeat prescription waiting period will start from the next working day. Bank Holidays, weekends and training days are not counted as working days, therefore please allow for this when placing your request.
Please allow at least 48 hours, “excluding” weekends and Bank Holidays for your request to be processed.
Prescription Fees
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPC’s) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
NHS charges
From 1 April 2014, the charges are:
- Prescription (per item): £9.15
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £105.90
- 3-month PPC: £29.65
If you will have to pay for 4 or more prescription items in 3 months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC. The charge for a single prescription item is £9.15, whereas a three month PPC will cost you £29.65 and a 12 month PPC £105.90.
